Person of the Week: Mitch McConnell

Claim To Fame: Republican, represents Kentucky in the Senate and is majority leader

Why He's Person of the Week: for sticking with his guns and going nuclear to confirm Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court after Democrats mounted the first successful partisan filibuster of a Supreme Court nominee in U.S. history. Democrats, who are only interested in serving the interests of their radically-leftwing base and thus, have promised to onstruct President Trump at every turn, were determined to deny Gorsuch an up-and-down vote, despite the judge being more than qualified for the position.

Still, McConnell went on TV and guaranteed that Gorsuch would be confirmed this week. And did so, invoking the “nuclear option” to gut the filibuster for Gorsuch and all future Supreme Court nominees and finishing a fight that Democrats started more than a decade ago by blocking George W. Bush's judicial nominees.

Hillary Clinton's Subtle Digs at President Trump

This woman just can't stay out of the spotlight. Hell, if Hillary waited a 100 days after Trump won, slowly crawled out the cave, gave an interview to Andrea Mitchell on the election, admitted her own campaign failures in why she lost and then started speaking out about Trump, i think that even some conservatives would respect her. But she can't because her huge ego won't allow her to.

Person of the Week: Democrat Senators Joe Manchin and Heidi Heitkamp

Claim To Fame: Senators from West Virginia and North Dakota

Why They're Person's of the Week: For defying party head Chuck Schumer along with a liberal base that opposes anything and everything President Trump does and becoming the first Democrats to publicly announce their intention to vote for President Trump's eminently qualified Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch.

"After doing my due diligence by meeting with Judge Gorsuch and reviewing his record and testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, I’ve decided to vote in favor of his confirmation," Heitkamp said in a statement.

Thirty-three Senate Democrats have come out against Gorsuch's nomination, with Republicans signaling that they are willing to change Senate rules to confirm him with a simple majority if eight Democrats or Independents don't back him.

Both West Virginia's Manchin and North Dakota's Heitkamp are up for re-election next year in states that voted for Trump in the 2016 presidential election.

"I hold no illusions that I will agree with every decision Judge Gorsuch may issue in the future, but I have not found any reasons why this jurist should not be a Supreme Court justice," Manchin said in a statement.
