San Francisco Puts Sanctuary Before Funding

RealClearPolitics.com:
Ever since Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez shot and killed Kate Steinle on a warm July evening as she strolled along Pier 14 with her father, San Francisco's Sanctuary City policy has enraged swaths of the rest of America. Lopez-Sanchez, you see, had been convicted of multiple felonies and deported five times. Immigration and Customs Enforcement would have deported the Mexican national if he had not been handed over to the San Francisco Sheriffs Office on a decades-old marijuana charge.

When the city dropped the moldy case, then-Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi released Lopez-Sanchez without notifying ICE. He said he was being true to a 2013 Sanctuary City ordinance that directed law enforcement not to cooperate with detainer requests except for individuals with a violent felony conviction in the last seven years. Weeks later, Lopez-Sanchez shot Steinle with a gun stolen from a federal agent. Claiming that the shooting was an accident, Lopez-Sanchez has pleaded not guilty.

City Hall refused to kill the 2013 Sanctuary City policy. If conservatives want something, the board of supervisors will block it. Citizen safety be damned.

The Republican Congress is not of like mind. The new chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee that oversees the Department of Justice, Rep. John Culberson, R-Texas, is poised to use Congress' power of the purse to withhold federal law enforcement funds from sanctuary cities. He told me, "There will be no more Kate Steinle murders, if I can help it."

U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch is on board. Wednesday she told the subcommittee that the Bureau of Prisons will transfer released federal inmates who are undocumented and due for deportation directly to ICE -- not to sanctuary cities, unless the sanctuary agrees only to release the inmate to ICE. Culberson had nothing but praise for Lynch "for doing the right thing."

Conservative of the Week: Tavis Smiley

Age: 51

Claim to Fame: Author, talk show host and longtime political commentator

Why He's the Conservative of the Week: while Smiley isn't really a 'conservative' per say, unlike 90% of his colleagues in the liberal media, Smiley can almost always be counted on to play it down the middle when it comes to news, politics and his often on-point criticism of Barack Obama--especially when it comes to Barry's lack of concern for the plight of Blacks in America during his terms in office. For the latter, Smiley has earned the ire of both white and black liberals time and time again, who expect their colored journalists to bow down and never dare utter a bad word about the 1st Black President publicly, much less critique him or point out his many lies and hypocrisies. But Smiley ain't having it, as he showed once again this past week in an interview with Hillary Clinton.

From Newsbusters:
Just how leftist is PBS? When late-night host Tavis Smiley interviewed the Democratic candidates for president this week, he read them both a jeremiad attacking the Clintons from The Nation magazine claiming that welfare reform and the crime bill of 1994 “decimated black America” and the Clintons failed to stand up to "the right-wing demagoguery about black communities."

This may be the harshest set of questions Hillary Clinton has allowed to be spoken in her presence in this cycle. He began with Hillary on Tuesday:

SMILEY: So, obviously, the media is focused on how well you're going to do with African American voters. There's no doubt about the fact you have lined up the Black establishment pretty much in favor of your candidacy. Here is a quote from the article I'm sure you saw that Michelle Alexander wrote, author of The New Jim Crow, the article in The Nation magazine, for those who want to read it if you haven't read it. It's in The Nation magazine, the February 10 issue.

The headline was "Why Hillary Clinton Doesn't Deserve the Black Vote. From the crime bill to welfare reform policies, Bill Clinton enacted and Hillary Clinton supported, decimated black America."

Here's the quote. "What have the Clintons done to earn such devotion? Did they take extreme political risk to defend the rights of African Americans? Did they courageously stand up to the rightwing demagoguery about Black communities? Did they help usher in a new era of hope and prosperity for neighborhoods devastated by deindustrialization, globalization, and the disappearance of work? No. Quite the opposite."

She makes the argument and Bernie Sanders last night on this program agreed with her that you may be winning the Black vote at the moment, but you don't deserve the Black vote. How do you respond to that?
Smiley also wasn’t impressed that Mrs. Clinton’s tactic of embracing Obama to gain black votes, since he's perpetually complained Obama wasn't enough of a president for the black people:
SMILEY: His historic election notwithstanding, the data is clear about this, that black folk have lost ground in every major economic category over the last 10 years. So where that particular community is concerned, where you’re headed to South Carolina, tell me how you’re going to serve differently than Barack Obama. Because whatever his intentions were, we didn’t get it done for black people economically.
When Hillary replied that the financial crisis could be blamed on Bush and “trickle-down economics” and deregulation, Smiley shot back “Respectfully, deregulation didn’t start when the Republicans took over in 2000 when Bush came into office. Deregulation started in the Clinton era of Wall Street and many people have made that point time and time again in this campaign.

Hillary Clinton’s Goldman Sachs Speech Problem

WaPo.com:
In a Thursday op-ed headlined "Mrs. Clinton, Show Voters Those Transcripts," the New York Times editorial board gets to the heart of why Hillary Clinton's insistence that she will release her paid speech transcripts when everyone else in the race does makes no sense.
They write:
On Tuesday, Mrs. Clinton further complained, “Why is there one standard for me, and not for everybody else?”
The only different standard here is the one Mrs. Clinton set for herself, by personally earning $11 million in 2014 and the first quarter of 2015 for 51 speeches to banks and other groups and industries ...
... Her conditioning her releases on what the Republicans might or might not do is mystifying. Republicans make no bones about their commitment to Wall Street deregulation and tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. Mrs. Clinton is laboring to convince struggling Americans that she will rein in big banks, despite taking their money.
Yes, yes yes.  Also, yes.

Clinton — as the Times piece helpfully notes — has run through a series of bad answers about why she gave the speeches and why she is now unwilling to authorize the release of the transcripts of them.  She has migrated from some sort of convoluted citing of Sept. 11, 2001 and her work as New York's senator to justify her speech-giving on Wall Street to her current position, which amounts to "I won't do it unless everyone else does it."

The problem inherent in that point is that everyone else doesn't do it.  No one else in this race has earned millions of dollars from speeches to Wall Street banks and investment firms. No one else was paid $675,000 for a series of speeches to Goldman Sachs. And, no one else in the race is trying to make the case that despite their financial ties to Wall Street that they are best positioned to hold that industry accountable for its practices.

Students Demand CSU-LA President Resign for Letting Conservative Writer Ben Shapiro Speak

Breitbart.com:

Several dozen students staged a sit-in at the office of California State University Los Angeles president William A. Covino on Thursday evening, demanding that he resign for allowing Ben Shapiro to speak at the school earlier in afternoon.

The students, some of whom were sporting “Black Lives Matter” t-shirts, sat in the hallway outside Covino’s office, which was guarded by police. It is unclear whether Covino was in his office at the time.

Covino initially tried to cancel Shapiro’s appearance at CSU-LA, and said the school would schedule a panel discussion instead, which would include members with opposing views. However, after Shapiro promised to show up anyway, and defend his constitutional rights and those of the students, Covino reversed his position.

Shapiro’s talk, sponsored by Young America’s Foundation’s Fred R. Allen Lecture Series, was titled “When Diversity Becomes a Problem.”

Earlier in the afternoon, violence erupted as members of the school’s Black Student Union attempted to block attendees from entering Shapiro’s talk. Police escorts were able to smuggle about two dozen students in through a backdoor entrance. However, those barred by protesters were forced to watch his speech online.

BSU president Sesily Lewis told KNBC News that Shapiro’s “views incite hate speech and violence. And we are against hate speech because it’s our campus and we are supposed to feel comfortable and like we are in a safe space. And we did not feel that way and our administration ignored that and still allowed this guy to to come.”

Similarly, the CSU-LA Black Student Union had posted on Facebook on Feb. 19: “I don’t feel safe at Cal State La.”

This is one of the main reasons Donald Trump is the GOP front-runner right now. A lot of people are just tired of the Left's PC-bullying and grandiose polarization tactics.

The Duggar's Are Returing To TV...Minus Josh

CinemaBlend.com:
For a long time 19 Kids and Counting was TLC’s biggest hit, bringing families into the lives of the large and intriguing Duggar family. However, after reports leaked that son Josh had molested several girls, including some of his sisters, when he was 14 years old, the network quickly sought to distance itself from the famous clan. That didn’t last long, though, and three specials were soon commissioned--just without Josh. Now, TLC is definitely back in bed with the Duggar clan and recently signed on for brand new series Jill and Jessa: Counting On.

Counting On will follow Jill and Jessa and their ever expanding families. Jessa and her husband Ben Seewald currently have a very young baby, and TLC is banking on audiences finding the kid adorable. On Jill’s end, she and her husband, Derick Dillard also have a child and they are currently working as missionaries in Central America, which is pretty interesting. Obviously brother Josh seems to be missing from all of the upcoming footage, but his wife Anna will be around, as will a slew of other Duggar siblings, including Jana, Jinger, Joy Anna, John David, Josiah and Joseph Duggar. That's not all of the 19 kids, but it's quite a lot.
Along with Josh being on the outs with TLC, familiar patriarch Jim Bob and mom Michelle seem to be off the network, as well. When the Josh scandal broke, it seemed as if Jim Bob and Michelle had potentially not helped the situation by getting information covered up and not getting Josh the proper care. When Jim Bob and Michelle found out was Josh was up to, reports indicate they withheld information from the authorities, instead choosing to send Josh to a Christian treatment camp. They later spoke with a police office who simply gave Josh a stern talking to. That officer, Jim Hutchens, is reportedly in jail on child pornography charges.

New York Times Columnist Apologizes For Donald Trump Tweet Invoking Assassination Scene

DailyCaller.com:
New York Times columnist Ross Douthat apologized for joking about Donald Trump’s presidential campaign ending in an assassination attempt.

Wednesday, Douthat tweeted, “Good news guys I’ve figured out how the Trump campaign ends.” Then he linked a clip from the 1983 movie “The Dead Zone,” starring Christopher Walken and Martin Sheen. In the film, there is an assassination attempt on a politician. He has since deleted the tweet.

Inforwars reported that Walken’s character attempts to kill Sheens’s character, but Sheen uses a baby has a human shield, thus destroying his credibility.

“A lot readers were offended by my Trump/”Dead Zone” joke from yesterday,” Douthat wrote Thursday. “I can see why, and I’ve deleted the tweet. Apologies.”

Douthat who is a conservative, posed the question in his Wednesday column, “Are better odds for reform conservatism worth a choice between four or eight years with President Hillary or our own nuclear-armed Berlusconi?”
The more Trump wins, the more the haters are gonna come out saying dumb shit.

Former Model Cheryl Tiegs Doesn't Think Sports Illustrated's Fuller-Figured Model Ashley Graham Is 'Healthy'

USWeekly.com:
Oh, boy. Cheryl Tiegs isn’t a fan of Sports Illustrated featuring fuller-figured women. The supermodel criticized curvy models — including cover girl Ashley Graham — during an interview with E! News.

"I don't like that we're talking about full-figured women because it's glamorizing them because your waist should be smaller than 35 [inches],” said the 68-year-old, who has modeled for Sports Illustrated numerous times. “That's what Dr. Oz said, and I'm sticking to it. No, I don't think it's healthy. Her face is beautiful. Beautiful. But I don't think it's healthy in the long run."

Sports Illustrated surprised readers by featuring pro fighter Ronda Rousey, model Hailey Clauson and Graham on its Swimsuit Issue covers this year, a contrast from last year’s revealing Hannah Davis cover. See the different covers here.
Good for Tiegs for speaking the truth. In a world of political-correctness gone amuck, Tiegs speaking out like this desrves praise, not scorn. Not that every person who is skinny is healthy, but you damn sure have a better chance of being healthy and living longer maintaining normal-sized weight rather than being overweight like Graham is or worse yet, obese. Let the dumb 'fat-shamers' cry all they want, but not only is Sports Illustrated wrong for caving to the politically-correct by putting Graham on the cover, but they're sending a bad message to young girls.

Mitt Romney Demands Donald Trump Release His Tax Returns, Says There’s a ‘Bombshell’ In There

Mediaite.com:
Former GOP presidential contender Mitt Romney called in to Fox host Neil Cavuto‘s show Wednesday afternoon, and speculated that Donald Trump might be deliberately concealing information about his net worth and donation habits from the American voters.

Trump, Romney noted, had done a fine job harnessing people’s anger with a “political class that’s been fiddling and diddling,” leading to gridlock and inaction in Washington, but speculated that there were some as yet unearthed facts from the mogul’s past that could come back to haunt him — specifically, he said, he believed that “there’s a bombshell in Donad Trump’s taxes.”
I think there is something there. Either he is not anywhere near as wealthy as he says he is or he hasn’t been paying the kind of taxes we would expect him to pay or perhaps he hasn’t been giving money to the vets or the disable like he has been telling us he’s been doing. The reason I think there is a bombshell in there is because every time he is asked about his taxes he dodges and delays and says well we’re working on it.
The release of Romney’s own tax returns were a contentious issue in 2012, he noted, and but it was important to be transparent so voters could make an informed decision.
After Harry Reid pulled a similar stunt on him back in 2012, you'd think mitt would know better. Then too, Mitt had his chance in both 2008 and 2012, can't he just stay away?

Bipolar Pop Singer Kesha Denied Dr. Luke 'Made Sexual Advances,' Roofying Her in 2011 Deposition

People.com:
PEOPLE has obtained 2011 video from a source close to Dr. Luke that shows Kesha, sworn under oath, saying "Dr. Luke never made sexual advances at me."

The 63-second clip features snippets edited together from a June 16, 2011 deposition with Kesha and an October 18, 2011 with her mother, Pebe Sebert.

When asked, "Did you ever have an intimate relationship with Gottwald?" Kesha responded: "No."

Later in the clip, she says, "I know that Dr. Luke never made sexual advances at me," and responds "no" when asked, "Did Dr. Luke ever give you a roofie?"

Pieces of the 2011 deposition first came to light when a judge ordered documents be unsealed in 2014, shortly after Kesha, 28, sued Luke, 42, alleging he drugged and raped her and subjected her to a decade of verbal and emotional abuse.

Luke continues to vehemently deny the rape and abuse allegations. "I didn't rape Kesha and I have never had sex with her. Kesha and I were friends for many years and she was like my little sister," the producer, who's countersuing for breach of contract and defamation, Tweeted on Monday. He continued, "Kesha has denied under oath the horrible allegations now being made against me."
Here's an admitted bipolar singer with all sorts of mental issues, who's not all that talented, whose rape allegation is full of holes, getting all sorts of praise and support from the press, celebrities and fans alike, who care little about facts and keep slandering a man who claims he's innocent all over a record contract she signed years ago. Something's definitely not right with the world.

Barack Obama Vetting Moderate GOP Gov. Brian Sandoval for Scalia’s Supreme Court Seat

HotAir.com:
Gotta give credit where it’s due. Obama and his pal Harry know how to troll Republicans.
Brian Sandoval, the centrist Republican governor of Nevada, is being vetted by the White House for a possible nomination to the Supreme Court, according to two people familiar with the process.
Sandoval is increasingly viewed by some key Democrats as perhaps the only nominee President Obama could select who would be able to break a Republican blockade in the Senate…
Sandoval met Monday with Senate Minority Leader Harry M. Reid, a fellow Nevadan with whom he enjoys cordial relations.
A person familiar with the conversation said that while Sandoval told Reid he had not made a final decision on whether he would accept a Supreme Court nomination, he would allow the vetting process to move forward. Another person in Nevada familiar with the process confirmed that the process is underway.
Sandoval is pro-choice, expanded Medicaid, and oversaw Nevada’s construction of its own ObamaCare exchange (after the first attempt went sideways). He’s as “friendly” to Democrats as a modern Republican gets. Even so, I’m trying to imagine the reaction on the right if a Supreme Court vacancy opened up and a Republican president decided to bypass scores of conservative justices to nominate a center-left Democrat. And not just any center-left Democrat but someone who’s arguably underqualified: Sandoval spent a few years as attorney general of Nevada and then a handful more as a federal district judge, but most SCOTUS nominees have extensive appellate experience. Maybe Obama could sell this to the left on grounds that, with a Republican majority in the Senate vowing they’ll obstruct anyone he puts forward, a centrist Republican nominee is the best they can hope for. I doubt the right would go for that if the tables were turned, though; they’d want a Republican president to name a mainstream conservative and then fight tooth and nail to break the Senate’s will.

Maybe Obama could convince liberals that naming Sandoval would be worth it for the lulz. McConnell and Grassley would start to sweat as the White House proclaimed that the GOP is so intractable they’d actually block a member of their own party from the High Court out of personal pique towards Obama.

Ben Carson: Barack Obama was ‘Raised White’

Politico.com:
Ben Carson is the only person in the 2016 presidential field who is vying to become the country’s second African-American president.

If truth be told, however, he’s not entirely sure he wouldn’t actually be the first.
Carson, speaking during a half-hour sit-down with POLITICO’s “Off Message” podcast as he waited for the results of Saturday’s South Carolina primary (he finished sixth out of six), laid out his views on racism – and his belief that his experience as poor black kid in 1960s Detroit represents the real experience of his people in way that Barack Obama could never understand.

“He’s an ‘African’ American. He was, you know, raised white,” said the world-renowned neurosurgeon, whose single mother worked three jobs – and occasionally relied on government aid – to elevate Carson and his older brother from the grinding poverty of ghetto life.

“I mean, like most Americans, I was proud that we broke the color barrier when he was elected, but … he didn’t grow up like I grew up … Many of his formative years were spent in Indonesia. So, for him to, you know, claim that, you know, he identifies with the experience of black Americans, I think, is a bit of a stretch.”

Carson also suggested that what passes for racism now – in the age of Ferguson and Freddie Gray – isn’t comparable to the overt discrimination he encountered a half-century ago as a young man.

“Remember now, I’ve been around for 64 years, you know,” he added. “I’ve had a chance to see what real racism is.”
Well, Barry is half-white and does throw like a girl. But Carson, who's clearly showing how desperate he is by staying in a race he has zero chance of winning, suddenly wants to make race an issue because Barry isn't as hood as he is, than he's barking up the wrong tree and looking pretty stupid at the same time.

CDC: 50% of Black Gay Men HIV Are Positive

TheDailyBeast.com:
Half of gay and bisexual black men and a quarter of gay and bisexual Hispanic men will be diagnosed with HIV in their lifetimes, the Centers for Disease Control announced in a first-of-its-kind study on Tuesday.
While the lifetime risk of a positive HIV diagnosis has fallen from 1 in 78 Americans overall in 2005 to 1 in 99 today, the decline has not been distributed equally among the U.S. population. For the foreseeable future, the CDC estimates that gay, bisexual, black and Hispanic people will continue to bear the brunt of the HIV epidemic. The new study is the first time that the CDC has estimated lifetime HIV risk based on race.
Overall, the CDC projected that one in 64 men and one in 227 women in the United States will be diagnosed with HIV at current rates. For black and Hispanic people, however, that risk increases dramatically.

Regardless of sexual orientation, one in 20 black men and one in 48 black women will be diagnosed with the virus that causes AIDS in their lifetimes, according to the CDC. For Hispanic men and women, the risks are one in 48 and one in 227, respectively.

Where's the outrage? Where's Al Sharpton on this one? What about Ellen? Of course, they don't care, because that would hurt their Godless agenda which is sending Blacks further and further into despair.

Twitter Bans Conservative Blogger, Yet “Kill Trump” Account Still Active 6 Months Later

InfoWars.com:
UPDATE: The “Kill Trump” account was suspended MINUTES after this story was published. It only took Twitter a mere 6 months.

As Twitter suspended the account of yet another conservative for the crime of having the wrong politics, an account called ‘Kill Donald Trump’ that advocates assassinating the Republican frontrunner is still active six months later.

The social media giant shut down an account belonging to conservative journalist Robert Stacy McCain on Friday night, the latest example of what some claim is a purge of voices on the political right.

Although no reason was given for the ban, McCain asserts that it was a reaction to his strident criticism of third wave feminism.

However, while Twitter seems keen to silence bloggers who challenge leftist narratives, it appears to be more apathetic about leftists themselves who openly advocate the assassination of America’s potential next president – Donald Trump.

Leaked Audio Catches Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough Chatting With Donald Trump During Break: ‘Nothing Too Hard, Mika’

Mediaite.com:
Comedian and voice actor Harry Shearer somehow got his hands on audio of Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough chatting behind-the-scenes with Donald Trump in between breaks of their MSNBC town hall, playing it on his weekly radio show Le Show.

Throughout the six minutes or so, Trump and the MSNBC hosts chat amiably about a variety of topics, including politics, the primaries, golf, Morning Joe‘s coverage of Trump’s campaign, and their fellow journalists. On at least one occasion, the duo appear to discuss questions for the next segment within earshot of Trump. At times it can be difficult to determine who is speaking to who; Brzezinski and Scarborough appear at several points to be speaking to producers who were not picked up by the mics at the same time they were speaking to Trump.

In his intro, Shearer explains that he was broadcasting the audio after news reports suggesting the Morning Joe hosts were too close with the Republican presidential candidate. “You can cut the adversarial tension there with a knife,” Shearer jokes. “A butter knife, but still.”

“You know what I thought was kind of a wow moment, was the guy you brought up on stage,” Brzezinski began by telling Trump.

“We played it several times this morning,” Scarborough put in.

“I watched your show this morning,” Trump responded. “You have me almost as a legendary figure, I like that.”

After that, Brzezinski thanked Trump for agreeing to the interview. “You, you get great ratings and a raise,” he told her. “Me, I get nothing.”

“This will make us all look good,” Trump said, to which Scarborough replied, “Exactly.”

Scarborough and Trump then chatted about their thoughts on his most recent debate performance. “The next morning when I saw the CBS poll, I knew that the people who mattered didn’t think you lost it,” Scarborough said. “I mean, you came in a strong second. And I’ll tell you what was the most revealing thing was [Jeb Bush] came in last, the guy you attacked.”

Maryland Mom Who Pushed Son On Swing for 2 Days Not ‘Criminally Responsible’ for His Death

NYDailyNews.com:
A Maryland mother who pushed her toddler son on a playground swing for almost two days until he died will not face any time in jail or a mental institution after taking a plea deal on Monday.

Romechia Simms was indicted for manslaughter and child abuse, but entered a plea for a lesser charge and avoided being criminally responsible for her 3-year-old son’s death.

Simms, 25, will not be guilty for her involuntary manslaughter charge, but admits that prosecutors had enough evidence to convict her after she was found pushing Ji’Aire Lee’s corpse on a swing at a Maryland park last May.

A court-appointed psychologist ruled that the mother was schizophrenic, but not dangerous, WUSA9 reported.
Simms will have to continue taking her medication, see a psychiatrist and meet any other terms set by a court monitor as part of her five-year conditional release, WTOP reported.

“I’m happy with the outcome, this was the right thing to do,” Simms’ attorney, Elizabeth Connell said.

Joe Biden Argued for Delaying Supreme Court Picks in 1992

HotAir.com:
In which C-SPAN archivists drop a 20-megaton political warhead directly on Obama and the Democrats. The best part? Biden actually goes a little further than Republicans have gone this month in opposing an election-year replacement for Scalia. Not only doesn’t he want a vacancy filled, not only doesn’t he want the Judiciary Committee to even hold hearings on a nomination, he wants the president to decline making a nomination altogether. The current GOP line is that Obama has every right as president to offer a nomination, just as the Senate has every right to withhold its advice and consent. Biden 1992 wanted Bush 41 to keep any nominations in his pocket. Amazing.

How do you spin this if you’re the White House? I guess by focusing on the calendar. Biden said this in late June, several weeks after Bill Clinton had effectively clinched the Democratic nomination. The claim here will be that when Biden said “once the political season is underway,” he meant the general election, not the primary. But there’s no reason to draw that kind of line. The possibility that the next president will fill Scalia’s vacancy is already affecting votes in the process of choosing that president. All we can do now is let the process play out. Thanks, Joe!

Update: If you’re keeping score, this means that the current president, current vice president, current Senate minority leader, and incoming Senate minority leader have all gone on record in the past in favor of obstructing a Supreme Court nominee.
Gee, yet another Democrat caught out there being a hypocrite.

‘Affluenza’ Teen Ethan Couch’s Case Sent To Adult Court

KFOR.com:
A Texas judge on Friday recommended that “affluenza” teenager Ethan Couch‘s probation for a 2013 fatal drunken-driving crash be transferred from juvenile court to adult court – a long-expected move that prosecutors said could see him serve more jail time.

At its core, the decision in Tarrant County juvenile court should ensure that Couch’s eight remaining years of probation won’t evaporate when he turns 19 in April.

But, Couch, already jailed after he and his mother were arrested in Mexico in December on suspicion of trying to avoid a probation hearing, should serve a minimum 120 days extra days behind bars, prosecutors said.

That’s not punishment for the Mexico arrest but a provision of state law for certain young probationers moving to the adult system, prosecutors said.

“We have been waiting for this day for the last two years, and we’re very pleased with the court’s ruling,” said Tarrant County Prosecutor Riley Shaw on Friday.

The case of Couch, convicted of manslaughter in the deaths of four people in a drunken-driving crash in 2013 when he was 16, made national news when a judge sentenced him to 10 years of probation instead of jail time.

During the trial, his lawyers cited the now notorious “affluenza” defense, suggesting he was too rich and spoiled to understand the consequences of his actions.

On Friday, Couch, wearing a red jail jumpsuit, said little as Judge Timothy Menikos recommended that an adult court take over the supervision of his probation when he turns 19 on April 11.

Once Again, Ted Cruz Campaign Caught Pushing Fake Smear of Marco Rubio

Mediaite.com:
According to an article pushed by the Ted Cruz campaign Sunday, Marco Rubio casually renounced his Christianity in a roomful of people yesterday.

In a video posted by the University of Pennsylvania student paper The Daily Pennsylvanian, Rubio runs into Ted’s father Rafael Cruz and a Cruz staffer while the campaigns were both staying in the same hotel. According to the video’s subtitles, they had the following conversation:

RUBIO: Got a good book there.
STAFFER: Yes, sir.
RUBIO: Not many answers in it. (points) Especially in that one.

After The Daily Pennsylvanian posted a trolly piece wondering what book it was, the Cruz campaign of course responded by telling them it was the Bible.

Now if the video’s transcription is accurate, Rubio randomly went up a Cruz staffer, complimented the Bible (“Got a good book, there” was a statement, not a question), immediately denounced it seconds later in full view of a room of people and his young son, and then casually strolled off. That may strike some as plausible, but only those who are already inclined to believe Rubio is Satan incarnate.

The problem is, listening to the audio, Rubio doesn’t say “not many answers in it.” It sounds to me like he’s saying “all of the answers” are in it. Some say they hear him saying “a lot of answers in it,” but it definitely doesn’t sound like “not.”

According to Rubio spokesman Alex Conant, his boss said “all” of the answers. “How do I know? I’m in the video!!” he tweeted.
Funny that some people are actually suggesting that Rubio team up with Cruz to defeat Trump, totally ignoring that with the way Rubio's been accusing Cruz of lying on him time and time again, Marco probably doesn't want to be in the same room as Cruz again, much less saddling up to him.

Conservative of the Week: Dr. Richard Lindzen

Age: 76

Claim To Fame: Atmospheric physicist and top MIT Climate Scientist

Why He's The Conservative of the Week: for continuing to speak out against the false narratives surrounding 'climate change' by  environmentalists, the media and liberal politicians. For years Lindzen, a professor emeritus of atmospheric sciences at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, came to the defense of fellow scientists who don't support man-made global warming and were part of a recent Democratic witch hunt.

Most recently, on RealClear Radio, Lindzen, rallied against the media repeating the so-called “97 percent consensus” statistic to show just how strong the global warming agreement is among climate scientists. It’s purely “propaganda,” argued Lindzen.

With the media spin continuing (TIME magazine has already declared that  '2016 Expected to Be the Warmest Year on Record, Lindzen, a climate scientist who isn't receiving government grants to validate the pre-determined global warming outcomes, made the observation to the Climate Depot:

“Frankly, I feel it is proof of dishonesty to argue about things like small fluctuations in temperature or the sign of a trend. Why lend credibility to this dishonesty?”

“All that matters is that for almost 40 years, model projections have almost all exceeded observations. Even if all the observed warming were due to greenhouse emissions, it would still point to low sensitivity,” Lindzen continued.

“But, given the ‘pause.’ we know that natural internal variability has to be of the same order as any other process,” Lindzen wrote.

...“When someone says this is the warmest temperature on record. What are they talking about? It’s just nonsense. This is a very tiny change period,” Lindzen said in November 2015.

Lindzen cautioned: “The most important thing to keep in mind is – when you ask ‘is it warming, is it cooling’, etc. — is that we are talking about something tiny (temperature changes) and that is the crucial point.”

“And the proof that the uncertainty is tenths of a degree are the adjustments that are being made. If you can adjust temperatures to 2/10ths of a degree, it means it wasn’t certain to 2/10ths of a degree,” he added.
– “70% of the earth is oceans, we can’t measure those temperatures very well. They can be off a half a degree, a quarter of a degree. Even two-10ths of a degree of change would be tiny but two-100ths is ludicrous. Anyone who starts crowing about those numbers shows that they’re putting spin on nothing.”

Climatologist Dr. John Christy said it best: “If you want the truth about an issue, would you go to an agency with political appointees? The government is not the final word on the truth.”

Despite the dubious nature of the consensus, liberal politicians continue to use the '97% consensus' figure to bolster their calls for policies to fight global warming. President Barack Obama even cited Australian researcher John Cook's paper while announcing sweeping climate regulations.

“Ninety-seven percent of scientists, including, by the way, some who originally disputed the data, have now put that to rest,” Obama said in 2013, announcing his new global warming plan. “They’ve acknowledged the planet is warming and human activity is contributing to it.”

Lindzen disagreed with Obama and other liberal politicians who cite Cook’s paper to call for stricter energy regulations. He said it’s part of a political machine that’s used by scientists and politicians to direct more taxpayer dollars to pet projects.

“If you can make an ambiguous remark and you have people who will amplify it ‘they said it not me’ and he response of the political system is to increase your funding, what’s not to like?” Lindzen said.

Sarah Palin Goes On Attack Against Fake Conservative Glenn Beck

WND.com:
Former Alaska governor, vice presidential candidate and Fox News pundit Sarah Palin took to Facebook to slam Glenn Beck for his recently spouted political views and criticisms of Republican front-runner Donald Trump, bluntly asking the Blaze TV and radio host: “What’s conservative about that?”

Palin recently endorsed Trump; Beck, who endorsed Sen. Ted Cruz, has been one of Trump’s most vocal critics.
Palin wrote: “Ted Cruz’s star spokesman and campaign partner, Glenn Beck, promises he will support a socialist vs. the pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment, pro-growth, pro-American GOP front runner … what’s conservative about that?”

She then included a link to a Gateway Pundit article entitled, “Huh? Glenn Beck Tells Iowa Crowd He Prefers Bernie Sanders Over Donald Trump.”

Palin went on that way for half a page, posting criticisms of Beck’s politics above the link to the pertinent news story.

She wrote: “Beck would have chosen Hillary Clinton over the GOP nominee and evidently thinks Barack Obama is a pretty swell guy as president … what’s judicious about that?”

And this: “Beck proclaims his hatred for the American victims of 9/11 – the innocent VICTIMS, mind you, not the evil terrorists. … what’s honorable about that?”

And another: “Beck joins Cruz in inviting more illegals to break America’s laws as the two link arms to greet illegal immigrants at the border with rewarding gifts of soccer balls and teddy bears … what’s celebratory about that?”
Beck has long been a phony, glad a prominent conservative finally called him out on it.

New Poll Shows Marco Rubio Within Three Points of Donald Trump in South Carolina

HotAir.com:
We’ve been hearing about “Marcomentum” all week, and the endorsement of Nikki Haley was expected to have boosted Marco Rubio’s fortunes in South Carolina. Donald Trump’s eruption at the generally well-liked George W. Bush was supposed to hurt him in the Palmetto State, too, but until today, there seemed to be very little evidence of either in polling. A new poll from the Fox affiliate in Atlanta (via John Ziegler) shows Marco Rubio within the margin of error for the lead, just three points behind Trump at 27/24, with Ted Cruz falling into third with 19%.

Outlier?
A new poll conducted for FOX 5 in advance of Saturday’s GOP primary in South Carolina shows Senator Marco Rubio has jumped into second place to challenge front-runner Donald Trump.
The OpinionSavvy poll conducted for FOX 5 shows Rubio with 24% of the South Carolina Republican voters surveyed, trailing only businessman Trump with 27%.
This week’s endorsement of Rubio by South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley apparently helped push Rubio to the second spot, ahead of Texas Senator Ted Cruz with 19%.
In case you’re wondering, Opinion Savvy is the same firm that had Trump and Cruz ahead of Rubio one week ago today, 36/19/15 respectively. As Allahpundit noted last week, they also came close to getting it right in Iowa, picking up on Rubio’s late surge, even if they missed the magnitude of the vote for all three candidates.
I don't care what anybody says, if Trump loses or if it's close in South Carolina, it's mostly because of his lies about former President Bush.

Despite Fights and Crazy Phone Calls With Clintons in 2008, Jim Clyburn Endorses Hillary Clinton

Mediaite.com:
All day today, people have been talking about how influential Representative Jim Clyburn, who is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, has endorsed Hillary Clinton. This is especially interesting to news consumers who know about his not-so-nice comments against Hillary and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, during her first run for president back in 2008.

In a New York Times interview, he called the former president’s actions on the campaign trail “bizarre,” saying that his efforts to help his wife secure the Democratic nomination had alienated the couple from the black community the moment he disparaged Barack Obama. Seriously, the article was titled, “Black Leader in the House Sharply Criticizes Bill Clinton.”

The Wall Street Journal covered the fallout from that in 2008, writing that, “On primary night, Mr. Clinton called Mr. Clyburn and they spoke for 50 minutes.” Then, they wrote this:
Mr. Clinton called Mr. Clyburn an expletive, say Democrats familiar with the exchange. Mr. Clyburn’s office would confirm only that the former president used “offensive” words. Some day soon, the congressman says, he’ll write about the incident. On Tuesday, he endorsed Mr. Obama for president.
In spite of his 2008 endorsement of Obama, during the announcement today, he said, “My heart has always been with Hillary Clinton, but my head had me in a neutral corner.” Then, the man who is involved with not only the CBC, but the Democratic Faith Working Group, the Democratic Steering and Policy Committe, and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., said he was ready to stop being neutral and “get engaged.”
It's funny watching Black people, who called the Clinton's all kinds of names and accsed them of all sorts of racist dispositions back when they ran against Barry in 2008, now all of a sudden embrace those two turncoats here in 2016 with Barry out the way.

Pope Francis Suggests: Donald Trump ‘Is Not Christian’

Mediaite.com:
While speaking on Mexican-American border, Pope Francis said that Donald Trump was “not a Christian,” while declining to instruct Catholics not to vote for him.

“Can a good Catholic vote for this man?” a reporter asked him.

“A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian,” His Holiness responded. “This is not in the Gospel.”

“As far as what you said about whether I would advise to vote or not to vote, I am not going to get involved in that,” he said. “I say only that this man is not Christian if he said things like that. We must see if he said things in that way, and in this I give the benefit of the doubt.”

Trump responded almost immediately, interrupting a stump speech to give a response calling the Pope “a very political person.”

Bruce aka 'Caitlyn' Jenner Claims to Get More Harassment for Being Conservative Than Trans

Mediaite.com:
During an address at the University of Pennsylvania, Caitlyn Jenner made a surprising revelation. Although it is common knowledge that she identifies as a conservative — which has hardly inured her to many prominent Republicans — it was striking to hear her say that her conservatism gets her more grief than her recent transition from male to female.
I have gotten more flak for being a conservative Republican than I have for being trans.
— Caitlyn Jenner, February 17, 2016
An article detailing the revelation can be found over at The Daily Caller, where the author mistakenly refers to Jenner with masculine pronouns throughout the piece, which adds a layer of downright unbelievability to the claim that the Olympian’s gender identity is less contentious than her political one.

Jenner’s politics have been divisive for some time, of course. She “outed” herself to Diane Sawyer as a Republican during the same interview in which she also admitted to being a woman after months of tabloid speculation. As mentioned, she has been rebuffed by major conservative pundits, but she was also denied entry to a Democratic debate by CBS. People who are active in the trans* community have also pushed back on her right-leaning politics. Her description of herself as “a traditionalist” who doesn’t support gay marriage made major headlines last September. Like any voter, she is complex and has a lifetime of diverse personal experience on which to base political views, but that doesn’t stop people on both sides of the big issues from being taken aback by her seemingly discordant actions and beliefs.

Singer Adele Dresses Son Up Like a Girl Princess

BET.com:
Adele might just be the best mom ever. The British sensation let her son dress as Anna from the popular movie Frozen on a family trip to Disneyland. While we admire the singer's freedom of expression for her baby boy, Twitter doesn't seem to be a fan of her decision.

According to UK publication Pink News, she was spotted at the theme park with her partner, Simon Konecki, and their 3-year-old son, Angelo, who was taking in the experience in his stroller. Other patrons at the park saw the family and noticed the toddler wearing Disney's official "Anna Deluxe Coronation Costime." You can view the images here.

While Adele is all about letting her baby boy express himself whichever way he positively chooses, social media is up in arms.

We have a feeling Adele is not bothered by all of this hate. In a December 2015 interview, she explained she will support her son no matter what: "I can't wait to know who his best friends are going to be, who his girlfriend or his boyfriend is going to be... Whatever my kid wants to do or be, I will always support him no matter what."
Confusion. Godlessness. It all starts at home.

Barack Obama Won’t Attend Justice Antonin Scalia’s Funeral

HotAir.com:
Unless the Scalia family asked him not to attend for some reason, which I’d guess is unlikely, what’s a good excuse to miss it? Biden will be there, as will various Supreme Court justices past and present, so security will be tight regardless. Says Chris Hayes, “Some amazing advice my mom gave me once: ‘If you’re wondering whether you should go to the funeral, you should go to the funeral.'”

Obama will pay his respects on Friday at the Supreme Court building, where Scalia will lie in repose.
When pressed for clarification on Obama missing the funeral, White House press secretary Josh Earnest repeated that “the president will pay his respects at the Supreme Court on Friday and he’ll be joined with the first lady when he does that.”
When asked whether Obama’s Saturday plans include golfing, Earnest stressed instead that the president believes it is important to honor Scalia’s life and service…
Four out of the past seven funerals for a Supreme Court justice has either had the president or vice president in attendance.
Former President George W. Bush attended the funeral for Chief Justice William Rehnquist.
He’s not going to golf while the rest of D.C. is saying farewell to Scalia. Right?

As noted in the excerpt, including the upcoming service on Saturday, the president or VP will have attended only four of the last seven funerals for a justice. What’s not noted, though, is that six of those seven had already retired to private life when they died. Of the previous six — Rehnquist, Burger, Brennan, Marshall, Blackmun, and Powell — only Rehnquist was a sitting justice when he passed, and Dubya made a point of attending his funeral. Scalia, of course, was also a sitting justice, but Obama won’t be there. How come? If he doesn’t respect the man, he could and should respect the office.
Wonder what the odds are on whether or not Barry would've attended...say Ruth Ginsburg's funeral, if she had passed away instead of Scalia? Again, who said this guy wasn't divisive?

South Carolina Voters Angered by Donald Trump's Claim that Bush Lied to Start Iraq War

WeeklyStandard.com:
Did Donald Trump damage his candidacy at Saturday night’s debate when he alleged that George W. Bush knowingly lied about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq in order to launch the war? A few signs suggest the answer is yes.

On Monday, Rush Limbaugh lumped Trump in the same league as Michael Moore and Daily Kos bloggers for standing by his Iraq war conspiracy theory. Then on Tuesday, CNN released a poll that found Trump dropped 9 points after the debate—from 40 percent to 31 percent. On Tuesday night, every voter I spoke to at Trump's campaign event in Beaufort, South Carolina disapproved of Trump's comments. Their views ranged from genuine disgust to mere displeasure.

Dave Paxton from Hilton Head said he still doesn't know who he's voting for on Tuesday, but he is certain he won't be voting for Trump. Paxton said Trump's comment about George W. Bush "was horrible. I couldn't hardly watch after that. I mean, really, I was hoping they would not even ask him another question."

"I just think he made an ass of himself," Paxton added. "And then he kept interrupting."

On the ride over to Trump's event, Paxton said, his girlfriend and another friend who support Trump brought up the Iraq debate remark and both agreed that it was embarrassing. "I think it hurt him a lot. We'll see come Saturday," Paxton said.

"He just recently got crossed off my list," Michele Williams of Okatie, South Carolina said of Trump. Williams hadn't liked Trump's bullying behavior for some time, but it was "the debate that was the nail in the coffin."

"The thing about 'Bush lied'—that makes me question his conservatism. I don't trust him any more. I really don't. I don't respect him," said Williams, who has narrowed her choices down to Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and John Kasich. "Definitely voting in the primary, but I'm as confused as ever," she said about her vote.
Trump's running as Populist, but this attack on former President Bush not only made zero sense, but in a state where Jeb Bush brought out his big brother out to specifically campaign for him, why would you risk alienating South Carolina voters with unnecessary comments about Bush and Iraq? Then too, why would would go out of your way to diss Bush when you consider the facts about us going into Iraq? And when you consider that the far-Left loons who delight in stating that 'Bush Lied' us into Iraq aren't gonna vote for you anyway? And when you consider that Saddam Hussein was a really, really bad guy who needed to go. And when there are still so many people out there who maintain skepticism of how much a 'true conservative' you really are?

Pointing Out That Hillary Clinton’s Running on Her Gender Isn’t Sexist, It’s Just True

Mediaite.com:
Rapper and Bernie Sanders supporter Killer Mike landed himself in hot water recently after saying the following about Hillary Clinton:
When people tell us, “hold on, wait a while”—and that’s what the other Democrat is telling you—“Hold on, Black Lives Matter, just wait a while. Hold on, young people in this country, just wait a while.” And then she get good, she have your own momma come to you, your momma sit down and say, “Well you’re a woman.” But I talked to [liberal activist] Jane Elliott a few weeks ago, and Jane said, “Michael, a uterus doesn’t qualify you to be president of the United States. You have to have policies that’s reflective of social justice.”
That uterus comment drew the ire of feminists and Clinton supporters, who bashed it as crude and sexist. “Can’t we just agree that reducing a female candidate to a reproductive body part is disrespectful?” Joan Walsh said in a typical tweet. The Clinton campaign called the comments “disappointing,” saying “Obviously if the suggestion there is that Hillary Clinton is asking anyone to vote for her based on her gender, that’s completely off base.”

There’s a case to be made that Killer Mike’s comments were inappropriate for their crudity. But that a) wasn’t a concern that was raised when supporter Lena Dunham asked Clinton if she had seen a man’s penis, and b) is kind of a given when you’re talking about a rapper whose lyrics include references to “freak sluts” and “monkey niggas.” I never heard liberal feminists make a fuss about Mr. Mike’s language before he attacked Clinton, to whip out the smelling salts now seems more than a little contrived.

For the sake of argument, let’s agree that the man who goes around with the word “Killer” in front of his name used language that is generally beyond the pale in presidential discourse. Critics also claim that the substance of his argument was sexist. So getting down to the real debate: was Mr. Mike right to imply Clinton is running on her gender, and if so, was it wrong of him to point it out?

The answers to those questions are yes, and hell no.

The number of times that Clinton had made appeals to voters based solely on her gender make it basically impossible to list them all, but I’ll give just a few examples as an illustration:
  • Clinton has on at least three separate occasions responded to criticism that she is an establishment candidate by saying that she would be the first woman president. This has been her sole response to the establishment question. The frequency with which she has employed this line is a pretty strong indication that this was a bottled line created by the campaign.
  • The Clinton campaign literally cut a commercial of young girls saying how much they want a woman for president, in what is arguably the most manipulative campaign ad since Johnson said that Goldwater would make the Soviets bomb that little girl.
  • Two female Clinton surrogates have told women that they are betraying their entire gender if they don’t vote for Sanders. When asked to repudiate these comments, the Clinton campaign refused outright. Clinton herself laughed the comments off when asked about them.

Gay Mafia Forces Christian Boxer Manny Pacquiao To Apologize For Telling the Truth About Homosexuality

NPR.com:
Facing a sharp backlash over his remarks in a recent TV interview, boxer and politician Manny Pacquiao has apologized for saying that people who are in gay relationships are "worse than animals."

Here's the famous boxer's apology:
"I'm sorry for hurting people by comparing homosexuals to animals. Please forgive me for those I've hurt. I still stand on my belief that I'm against same sex marriage because of what the Bible says, but I'm not condemning LGBT. I love you all with the love of the Lord. God Bless you all and I'm praying for you."
Outrage quickly grew in reaction to Pacquiao's comments in an interview that aired Monday night on the Philippines' TV5 network, in which he said it was a matter of "common sense" that animals don't have male-to-male or female-to-female relations. Carrying his idea a step further, Pacquiao said that if people engage in same-sex relations, then people "are worse than animals."
While it's a liberal myth that human beings are animals, Pacquiao's overall point about those who choose to engage in homosexual intimacy being 'worse than' animals was totally on point when you consider the wanton search for lust combined with the choice to label oneself a 'homosexual'. Pacquiao, who has long worn his Christianity on his sleeve, didn't need to apologize. He just needs to express his thoughts on why homosexuality is wrong and ungodly in a more educated fashion.
