Trey Gowdy: Person of the Week

Claim to Fame: former federal prosecutor and current South Carolina Congressman

Why He's the Person of the Week: for criticizing Justice Department investigators for prolonging their investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and demanding an end to it. While Robert Mueller will undoubtedly NOT be ending his probe due to anything Gowdy says, it's still nice to see a sitting Congressman vent on an investigation that's gone on way too long, has shown clear bias from day one, continues to cast a gray cloud over the President's head and that most American's which to see end:
Support for special counsel Robert Mueller’s handling of the Russia investigation is shrinking, a new CNN poll reveals.
Forty-one percent of Americans now approve of the way he is running the probe, compared to 39 percent who disapprove. In March, 48 percent approved and 35 percent had disapproved.
Gowdy, who chairs the House Committee on Oversight, while speaking to FBI director Christopher Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein during a tense House Judiciary Committee hearing Thursday, said:

“We’ve seen the bias, we need to see the evidence,” Gowdy, who chairs the House Committee on Oversight, told the officials. “If you have evidence of wrongdoing by any member of the Trump campaign, present it to the damn grand jury. If you have evidence that this president acted inappropriately, present it to the American people….Whatever you got, finish it the hell up. Right now this country is being torn apart.”
