President Trump Acquitted by Senate on Both Articles of Impeachment
Romney voting to convict surprised me, as did Manchin doing the same, other than that the outcome was pretty predictable.

Joe Manchin: Person of the Week
Claim To Fame: senior Senator from West Virginia
Why He's The Person of the Week: for bucking party leadership and voting 'Yes' on both the GOP and Democrat proposals to end shutdown. Showing a willingness to do 'whatever it takes' to end the shutdown, Manchin became the only Democrat to vote for a Republican Senate funding proposal.
The Republican proposal would end the 34-day shutdown with $5.7 billion for President Trump's border wall and revamp immigration laws, while the Democrats’ solution would reopen agency doors for three weeks while bargainers seek a budget accord. And with President Trump ending the Shutdown a few days later, Manchin, who has always shown a willingness for bipartisanship since he became a Senator in 2010, now says that an "outside observer" is needed to facilitate negotiations between the administration and Congress.
"You need to bring in professionals," Manchin said on "Face the Nation." "There's a lack of trust and a lack of belief on both sides. No one believes that, basically, these figures are correct, or this or that's going to happen, or do we really need all 5.7 billion being spent on some kind of a secured structure?"

‘Don’t Need That Type of Rhetoric’: Joe Manchin Bashes Nancy Pelosi’s ‘Make America White Again’ Remark
Pelosi's from a pro-illegal immigration state in California, so of course, she's going to race bait. What Nancy's really betting is Trump not having the guts to really deport 'Dreamers' come March.

Person of the Week: Democrat Senators Joe Manchin and Heidi Heitkamp
Claim To Fame: Senators from West Virginia and North Dakota
Why They're Person's of the Week: For defying party head Chuck Schumer along with a liberal base that opposes anything and everything President Trump does and becoming the first Democrats to publicly announce their intention to vote for President Trump's eminently qualified Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch.
"After doing my due diligence by meeting with Judge Gorsuch and reviewing his record and testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, I’ve decided to vote in favor of his confirmation," Heitkamp said in a statement.
Thirty-three Senate Democrats have come out against Gorsuch's nomination, with Republicans signaling that they are willing to change Senate rules to confirm him with a simple majority if eight Democrats or Independents don't back him.
Both West Virginia's Manchin and North Dakota's Heitkamp are up for re-election next year in states that voted for Trump in the 2016 presidential election.
"I hold no illusions that I will agree with every decision Judge Gorsuch may issue in the future, but I have not found any reasons why this jurist should not be a Supreme Court justice," Manchin said in a statement.
