This is just delusional. What's President Cruz gonna do next, name his cabinet members? Obviously, Ted is desperately trying to steal some of Trump's thunder after he lost all 5 states in the Acela Primary on Tuesday, but naming a running mate, really?!? And one that no one stand, much less take seriously, in Carly Fiorina? Not to suggest that Cruz should drop out altogether, but better he pull a Bernie Sanders and announce that he's sticking it out till the end of the primaries than pull an ass-backwards stunt like this.

Carly Fiorina Ends Presidential Bid

Carly Fiorina is ending her bid for the Republican presidential nomination. 

The former Hewlett-Packard executive announced the decision on Facebook Wednesday after finishing seventh in New Hampshire's primary.

"While I suspend my candidacy today, I will continue to travel this country and fight for those Americans who refuse to settle for the way things are and a status quo that no longer works for them," Fiorina said in a post.

The writing was on the wall after she didn't qualify for last week's ABC News debate, and a last-minute campaign on her behalf to allow her in was unsuccessful.

Fiorina had a shady past to deal with, but mostly she just got lost in a crowded field. Still think she could be a huge benefit to a Republican President in the future tho.

Rand Paul had some advice today for President Obama on the State of the Union: admit failure and resign.

Yes, in audio obtained by BuzzFeed, Paul said in a radio interview today that “from President Obama’s perspective, the best thing he could do would be to leave office early.”

“I wish that tonight,” Paul said, “he would announce, ‘Hey guys, I’ve really been a failure as a president over the last seven years and I’m gonna take off early so cause I’m gonna go play golf.'”

Host Dan Mitchell did challenge Paul a bit on some of the successes the president has had in his seven years, including health care and gay marriage. Paul said success really depends on one’s perspective.

Carly Fiorina: Hillary Clinton Calls Everyone 'Sexist'

Carly Fiorina said Monday that Hillary Clinton will play the "woman card" every chance she gets and that Republicans should get used to it.

"Hillary Clinton, first of all, calls everybody a sexist and that's not fair game," Fiorina said on Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "She called Bernie Sanders a sexist because he criticized her. She's going to play that card, we need to be realistic, and of course she's going to talk about the Republican war on women, which doesn't exist."

Donald Trump blasted both Clintons in a Saturday night tweet, knocking Bill Clinton for his infidelity. He fired back after Clinton derided Trump's "penchant for sexism."

The battle started almost a week ago when Trump said Clinton got "schlonged" in the 2008 primary fight with President Barack Obama.

Fiorina surged to some prominence in the Republican field after taking on Trump at the second Republican debate, but has since fallen again to the back of the Republican pack.

She made the case Monday why she should be the first woman to become president.

"Hillary Clinton wants to talk about the historic nature of her candidacy, she wants to talk about being first woman president and there are people out there -- lots of people, men and women -- who think its time for a woman president," Fiorina said. "My message to them will be, 'Look, how about an honest woman, a competent woman? How about a qualified woman?' But I'm never going to ask for people's support because I'm a woman. I'm going to ask for their support because I'm the most qualified candidate to beat Hillary Clinton and to do the job."

Hillary Clinton Laughs When Supporter Says He Wants to ‘Strangle’ Carly Fiorina

A military veteran at an event in New Hampshire told Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton that seeing Republican rival Carly Fiorina on television made him want to “strangle her.” In response, Clinton laughed at the man, saying: “I wouldn’t mess with you.”

Clinton was attending an event in the town of Derry, where she was going to unveil her campaign’s plan to support military veterans and their families. It was during a Q&A session with those in attendance that the man spoke up.

Not only was the unidentified man a veteran, but he also claimed to be a former employee at Hewlett-Packard, where Fiorina was CEO from 1999 to 2005.

Yet it was another reporter’s tweet about the incident, which was live-streamed by MSNBC, that made matters worse. That’s because Clinton apparently “thought [the comment] was hilarious” enough to laugh out loud at.

Last week, Fiorina failed to correct a supporter for calling President Barack Obama a “black Muslim.” When criticized for her inaction, she explained that Obama wasn’t on the ballot.

Mitt Romney: Donald Trump Won't Be GOP Nominee

Mitt Romney says he’ll support whoever the Republican candidate is, but he’s not going to go out and order a Make America Great Again hat anytime soon.

“I will support the Republican nominee. I don’t think that’s going to be Donald Trump,” the GOP's 2012 candidate said. “My party has historically nominated someone who's a mainstream conservative.”

Romney was speaking at The Atlantic’s Washington Ideas Forum Wednesday, where he was interviewed by the magazine's editor in chief James Bennet.

Romney noted that three of the top candidates in the GOP presidential primary have never held political office, bringing up Dwight Eisenhower and his own business background as examples of successful models.

“Just to be clear, in this scenario, are you comparing Donald Trump to Dwight Eisenhower?” Bennet asked.

“The parallel does not immediately just to mind," Romney said, laughing, "but that said, I feel like you don’t necessarily have to have Washington or government experience."

“I wouldn’t disqualify someone just because they hadn’t served in Washington or hadn’t served in a state house,” he added.

AP to Stop Referring to Climate Change Doubters as ‘Skeptics,’ ‘Deniers’

The Associated Press made quite a notable change today in how it refers to individuals with skeptical views about climate change science.

The AP announced the change on its blog today, explaining the changes:

Our guidance is to use climate change doubters or those who reject mainstream climate science and to avoid the use of skeptics or deniers.
Some background on the change: Scientists who consider themselves real skeptics – who debunk mysticism, ESP and other pseudoscience, such as those who are part of the Center for Skeptical Inquiry – complain that non-scientists who reject mainstream climate science have usurped the phrase skeptic. They say they aren’t skeptics because “proper skepticism promotes scientific inquiry, critical investigation and the use of reason in examining controversial and extraordinary claims.” That group prefers the phrase “climate change deniers” for those who reject accepted global warming data and theory. But those who reject climate science say the phrase denier has the pejorative ring of Holocaust denier so The Associated Press prefers climate change doubter or someone who rejects mainstream science.

How news outlets decide to frame such things can have a big impact on how they’re presented to the public, though things like this change have been controversial in the past, like when the AP decided to drop the use of “illegal immigrant” two years ago.

Of course, it's just a mere coincidence that the AP makes this change not too long after Donald Trump and Carly Fiorina, the two leaders in the GOP Presidential polls, both announced that they too don't believe in the outright lie that is global warming aka climate change.

Carly Fiorina Rockets to No. 2 Behind Donald Trump in GOP Field

Carly Fiorina shot into second place in the Republican presidential field on the heels of another strong debate performance, and Donald Trump has lost some support, a new national CNN/ORC poll shows. 

The survey, conducted in the three days after 23 million people tuned in to Wednesday night's GOP debate on CNN, shows that Trump is still the party's front-runner with 24% support. That, though, is an 8 percentage point decrease from earlier in the month when a similar poll had him at 32%.

Fiorina ranks second with 15% support -- up from 3% in early September. She's just ahead of Ben Carson's 14%, though Carson's support has also declined from 19% in the previous poll.

Driving Trump's drop and Fiorina's rise: a debate in which 31% of Republicans who watched said Trump was the loser, and 52% identified Fiorina as the winner. 

I've always liked Fiorina and the more Trump fails to provide specifics on important issues to Americans, the better for Fiorina who always sounds like she knows what she's talking about (esp. on foreign policy) even if you don't agree with her.

A year ago this week, time stopped for most of the million people living in Mosul, the second city of Iraq, when the Islamic State took control.

As one of the residents said, there was suddenly nowhere to go home to. Fear paralysed every move. American-trained Iraqi soldiers hid their uniforms and their gear while the rest of the people resigned themselves to their new status as prisoners. Their enemies had become their jailers.

They often call the invaders Daesh, an unflattering Arabic acronym for “Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.” Overwhelming Mosul was the biggest Daesh victory so far and the worst loss of the U.S.-led alliance. It won’t soon be reversed: Washington’s most optimistic plans call for an offensive against Mosul sometime in 2016.

This week the BBC and other news services marked the anniversary of the conquest by releasing interviews with refugees from Mosul who have provided moving accounts of intimate life under Daesh. And Phyllis Chesler, a feminist psychologist and author in the U.S., has responded by lamenting the fact that Western feminists have offered no support to the women who are Daesh’s victims.

This is not a new theme for Chesler. A few years ago, in her book The Death of Feminism, she argued that feminism had abandoned women in Muslim-majority countries. Kate Millett said that Chesler was “sounding a warning to the West that it ignores to its peril.” But it was largely ignored.

Chesler now says, in a statement issued by the Middle East Forum, that feminists have lost their way. They need to rekindle their original passion for universal justice. Fifty years ago, they launched a campaign for freedom and equality. That inspired a revolution in the West and a fresh vision for girls and women everywhere.

But today feminists ignore the ISIL crimes against women. “An astounding public silence has prevailed,” Chesler says. “The National Organization for Women (NOW) apparently doesn’t think ISIL is a problem.” NOW’s upcoming annual conference doesn’t list ISIL or Boko Haram on its agenda. The most recent conference dedicated to women’s studies dealt with foreign policy but considered only Palestine.

Today’s feminists, she adds, are disproportionately focussed on Western imperialism, colonialism and capitalism while ignoring Islam’s long history of imperialism, colonialism, anti-black racism, slavery and forced conversion.

Carly Fiorina: ‘Liberal Environmentalists’ to Blame for CA Water Crisis

Likely 2016 presidential contender Carly Fiorina has been on the attack lately, this time blaming liberal environmentalists for the water crisis in California.

Fiorina called in to Glenn Beck‘s radio show on Monday and bemoaned the “man-made disaster” in California that she was talking about years ago.

She said, “California is a classic case of liberals being willing to sacrifice other people’s lives and livelihoods at the altar of their ideology. It is a tragedy.” And Fiorina very specifically blames “liberal environmentalists” for bringing this crisis about, saying it’s “all about politics” and dismissed the idea that it has anything to do with global warming.

The more this woman talks, the more I like her.

Carly Fiorina: Apple CEO Tim Cook ‘Hypocritical’ for Opposing Religious Freedom Law

Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, who last week said there is a “higher than 90 percent chance” she will run for president, is going after Apple CEO Tim Cook for his vocal opposition to Indiana’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act, calling him a hypocrite for not also ceasing operations in countries where gay people and women are not treated fairly.

Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, the likely 2016 Republican presidential contender said Cook is demonstrating “a level of hypocrisy here that really is unfortunate.” Cook wrote in a Washington Post op-ed that the Indiana law and similar ones are “bad for business” and discriminatory.

“When Tim Cook is upset about all the places that he does business because of the way they treat gays and women, he needs to withdraw from 90 percent of the markets that he’s in, including China and Saudi Arabia,” she told The Wall Street Journal. “But I don’t hear him being upset about that.”

While critics have said the law opens the door to anti-LGBT discrimination, Fiorina told the WSJ that there was “nothing objectionable” about Indiana’s law. The criticism was so overwhelming to Indiana lawmakers that Gov. Mike Pence (R) was forced to call for a “clarification” and “fix” to the law.

“I think this is a ginned-up controversy by people who play identity politics that has divided the nation in a way that is really unhelpful,” Fiorina added. Interesting, in that same interview, Fiorina said, “I am running for this job because…” — immediately prompting an interjection of “if” from one of her aides.

Meanwhile, her fellow Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger wrote on Friday that the Indiana law is “distracting, divisive,” bad for the country and for the Republican Party.
