Liberal New York State Parole Board Grants 2-Time Murderer Parole

A convicted murderer who fatally stabbed two men on the same Brooklyn block just months apart in 1985 has been approved for release by the state parole board — infuriating one of his victims’ families, The Post has learned. 

“If he can take two lives, he can take more,” said the weeping daughter of father of 12 Angel Lugo, who was knifed to death during a robbery by Juan Franco. 

The woman, who only wanted to be identified as Sandra, and her nine remaining siblings will appear before the parole board Friday and beg members to change their minds about releasing Franco next month. 

Franco, 50, has spent the last 26 years in prison for murdering Lugo, a family man he met at a bar in DUMBO. 

The two played pool, and Lugo even bought him a beer because it was payday. 

As the unsuspecting dad later walked to the subway station at York and Jay Streets, Franco jumped him and stabbed him repeatedly before swiping his valuables. 

Franco went home — but then returned to Lugo’s body after realizing he hadn’t gotten all of his cash. 

Two months earlier, Franco fatally stabbed stranger Phillip Lopapa in his car during an argument over how much Lopapa would pay Franco for a consensual sex act. 

Franco was also arrested in 1984 for a non-fatal stabbing and even stabbed an inmate while incarcerated at the Clinton Correctional Facility in upstate Dannemora. 

“Stabbing comes very easily to this guy,” said another of Lugo’s children, Luis, to the Post. “Too easily.” 

“He’s an animal,” Sandra seethed.

And thanks to far-Left New York state's leeway for convicted felons to hold down jobs, this guy will probably be holding a job at Target or McDonald's soon...that's if he hasn't killed somebody else first, of course.

A Maryland mother who pushed her toddler son on a playground swing for almost two days until he died will not face any time in jail or a mental institution after taking a plea deal on Monday.

Romechia Simms was indicted for manslaughter and child abuse, but entered a plea for a lesser charge and avoided being criminally responsible for her 3-year-old son’s death.

Simms, 25, will not be guilty for her involuntary manslaughter charge, but admits that prosecutors had enough evidence to convict her after she was found pushing Ji’Aire Lee’s corpse on a swing at a Maryland park last May.

A court-appointed psychologist ruled that the mother was schizophrenic, but not dangerous, WUSA9 reported.

Simms will have to continue taking her medication, see a psychiatrist and meet any other terms set by a court monitor as part of her five-year conditional release, WTOP reported.

“I’m happy with the outcome, this was the right thing to do,” Simms’ attorney, Elizabeth Connell said.

Scofflaws who’ve ignored tickets for boozing in public, urinating in the streets and other quality-of-life offenses have no reason to behave now: City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito is announcing legislation today to wipe out more than 700,000 outstanding warrants for the low-level misdeeds.

The free passes will also be handed out to people nailed for disorderly conduct, breaking park rules, idling a vehicle, creating unreasonable noise and littering.

Mark-Viverito is unveiling the measure, which grants amnesty for nearly half of the city’s 1.5 million outstanding warrants, in her State of the City speech.

“We must continue the quest for reform,” Mark-Viverito said in excerpts of her speech released Wednesday.

“Our support for the NYPD and our efforts to improve the criminal justice system are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they go hand in hand.”

Mark-Viverito successfully pushed for an increase in the number of police officers last year.

But she and fellow council members have also come under fire from critics who say that many of the legislators’ ideas would hamper cops’ ability to get criminals off the streets.

The city’s largest police union was quick to slam the new amnesty plan.

“Densely populated cities like ours require that everyone act in a civil manner, or our neighborhoods will become virtual cesspools,” said Patrick Lynch, president of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association.

When it comes to creating a liberal utopia\the Godless far-Left have taken over New York and turned it into the east-coast version of California. With Andrew Cuomo at the head and this woman lying in weight as a powerful City Council Speaker, any wonder when NY becomes a place conservatives will want to stay far away from.

Drunk Driving Killer Ethan Couch Drops Extradition Appeal; Returns to the U.S.

The teenager who used an "affluenza" defense in a fatal drunken-driving wreck was booked into a Texas juvenile detention center following his deportation from Mexico on Thursday, more than a month after he and his mother fled the U.S. as prosecutors investigated whether he had violated his probation.

Ethan Couch, 18, arrived at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport late Thursday morning and could be seen walking through the airport escorted by law enforcement. Couch and his mother were apprehended in the Mexican resort city of Puerto Vallarta on Dec. 28, after a call for pizza delivery tipped off authorities to their whereabouts.

Couch initially fought deportation, but he dropped the fight this week. His mother was deported last month.

"We've reached a great milestone," Tarrant County Sheriff Dee Anderson said outside the juvenile facility in Fort Worth. "This is a day we've looked forward to, when we have them both here and back under the jurisdiction here. We're hoping that the day comes for justice for the families and the four victims that were killed."

Couch is scheduled for a court hearing Friday where a judge could decide to move him to an adult jail, which Anderson said he would support given the severity of Couch's offenses. Couch also faces a hearing on Feb. 19 to determine whether his case will be transferred to the adult system, where he could face more time behind bars.

"He's certainly capable of understanding now what's going on, and I'd feel better if he was there (in an adult jail)," Anderson said.

“Affluenza” teen Ethan Couch became notorious two years ago after getting off easy for killing four people while driving drunk, and he and his mother were the subject of a well-publicized manhunt when they fled the United States after he violated his probation. Both of them were arrested in Mexico last week, and new details have shown that even during his flight from justice, the affluenza continued to grip Couch.

The Dallas Morning News talked with Marina Meza, who works at the hotel the Couches stayed at, and who noted the Couches odd behavior throughout their stay. For example, Meza recounted how she had to go wake up Tonya Couch one night because her son had been escorted home by a waiter and a manager from two local gentlemen’s clubs, and who demanded compensation for his gigantic tab.

“Then I found out about his past and thought that too was really odd,” Meza said. “He didn’t have enough money to pay the bar bill, and his mother had to bail him out.”

Unlike in the United States, where The Daily Mail noted patrons usually pay for services upfront, most strip joints in Puerto Vallarta run up tabs to be settled at the end of the night. Club staff reported that Couch got extremely drunk at both joints, and that he burned through over $2,000 of his mother’s cash
Meza didn’t recognize the duo until after they left the hotel, but she pointed authorities in the right direction when they arrived in pursuit. Ms. Couch was extradited to the US and is facing her own set of criminal charges, but her son remains in a detention facility in Mexico, where he is filing paperwork to resist deportation.

Ethan Couch, the teenager infamous for using an “affluenza” defense to get a light sentence for murder, was caught in Mexico with his mother after a days-long manhunt for both of them.

CNN is reporting tonight that Mexican authorities arrested both of them near Puerto Vallarta, a popular beach resort area. 

Back in 2013, Couch was not sentenced to prison for killing four people while he was drunk driving. His legal team successfully argued that he has “affluenza,” characterized as “a lifestyle where wealth brought privilege and there were no consequences for bad behavior.”

Earlier this month, someone tweeted a video of him violating his probation by drinking, and after that, his probation officer was unable to contact him. A Texas court issued a warrant for his arrest, and there was a huge manhunt underway.

Both Couch and his mother were found in Mexico and are expected to be handed over to U.S. authorities.

Great, now this miscreant/murderer and his stupid mother will finally have to do some time in prison.

Massive Manhunt Ongoing To Find Ethan Couch

Amid a nationwide manhunt for a Texas teen — infamous for the “affluenza” defense that helped him avoid prison time following a fatal drunk-driving crash — authorities now say the 18-year-old’s mother has been listed as a missing person.

For the past week, U.S. marshals have been searching for Ethan Couch, who is wanted for a possible probation violation in a 2013 vehicular manslaughter case.

Authorities said in a statement Monday that his mother, Tonya Couch, 48, has been named a missing person “in all relevant national databases” and may be traveling with her son in a pickup truck.

“He continues to believe the law doesn’t apply to him, which is how he was raised,” Tarrant County Sheriff Dee Anderson said during a news conference, according to the Dallas Morning News. “If he has enough money, he can get out of it.”

Authorities have enlisted the public’s help in finding Tonya Couch’s pickup truck — a black 2011 Ford F-150 Harley Davidson edition. Authorities said it has 23-inch chrome wheels, “crease-like damage to the passenger side real panel” and a Texas license plate: BC50945.

In June 2013, Couch was driving his friends down a two-lane road in Fort Worth, about 30 miles from Dallas, and had a blood-alcohol level three times the legal limit and Valium in his system, authorities said. 

He crashed into passersby who had stopped to help a stranded motorist.

Four people were killed.

Couch, who was 16 at the time of the fatal crash, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and assault while intoxicated, according to the Associated Press.

It was his trial that thrust him into the national spotlight.

His attorneys argued that he was a spoiled rich kid whose privilege prevented him from distinguishing right from wrong. Indeed, his family is reported to be worth millions, thanks in part to a booming sheet metal business. It’s their success — and the way they have handled it — that contributed to Couch’s reckless behavior, his attorneys argued.

They recommended a lesser sentence — and won.

Couch was sentenced to drug-and-alcohol-free probation for 10 years as well as time in a rehabilitation center. But the term was tricky. Under Texas law, because Couch was younger than 17 when he committed the crime, his case would remain in juvenile court until his 19th birthday — and then his sentence would disappear, said Sam Jordan, a spokeswoman for the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office.

The prosecutor’s office filed a motion last month to have the case moved from juvenile court to adult court when he turns 19 next year, so that he would have to serve out his sentence.

If there's one issue that should be uniting Americans everywhere, it's finding this spoiled, rich murderer.
